Winter Wonderland: How To Make Winter Work For Your Wedding

The weather outside may be frightful but your wedding can still be o’ so delightful. While the warmer months of the year may be the more popular time to exchange vows, Winter makes for some great opportunities to put a unique spin on your wedding. Here are some ideas.

Work winter as a theme
Using white and blue hues and lighting can turn your ceremony and reception into a Winter Wonderland. Small decorations, such as a snowflake on the invitation can establish this idea from the start.

Personalised coat-room tags
Coat room tags are necessary to make sure jackets go home with the right owner. Make yours into a souvenir with the date, a picture or quote to commemorate the day.

Use umbrellas
Don’t let the rain dampen your spirits! Umbrellas, especially brightly coloured ones make for a great photo opportunity.

Complete your look with a jacket
Many designers produce wedding jackets allowing you to look amazing and stay warm!

Choose your menu accordingly
Move away from traditional wedding fare and warm guests up with soups and warm desserts.

Fireplace spotting
When looking at reception venues look for places with centrepieces such as a fireplace. This will serve as a backdrop, centrepiece and gathering place as your guests use it to keep warm.

Let your geek out!
Many TV shows and movies either centre on, or have an episode based around the idea of Winter. You can choose to have subtle nods to your favourite shows or go all out. Why not incorporate your love of Game of Thrones or all things Disney into your special day? This is also a great way to involve the little ones.

Be Bold!
Whether it’s bold makeup, brightly coloured bridesmaid dresses or groom’s suits and ties some bold choices will stand out from the rest of the winter theme.

Most importantly: Have fun with it and enjoy your day!
